Our Story – Ozarks Barge & Dock

At Ozarks Barge & Dock, quality dock construction has been our foundation since 1988. What began with Gene and Nina Gennetten moving from Kansas City to the Lake of the Ozarks has grown into one of the region’s most trusted names in dock building and barge services.
​
After spending four years as weekenders, Gene and Nina followed their passion for the Lake and opened a boat dock company in a small rental space below the Gravois Supermarket on Highway 5. Gene believed in one simple principle: if you build a strong dock and stand behind your work, success will follow. That philosophy still drives our business today.
​
By 1989, their son Steve had joined the company to help meet growing demand. In 1994, the business expanded with a new facility on P Road. As the Lake grew busier and rougher, so did the need for heavy-duty, long-lasting docks. Ozarks Barge & Dock rose to the challenge, building custom docks designed to withstand tough lake conditions. That same year, we began building docks for the Missouri Department of Conservation, and our crew quickly grew from six to 25 employees.

While we focus on servicing what we sell, son Mike extended the family tradition by offering dock service and maintenance for any brand of dock—helping even more Lake homeowners protect their investment.
In 2006, Gene passed away while doing the work he loved. Today, Nina and Steve continue to lead the company with the same values Gene instilled: integrity, craftsmanship, and a personal connection with every customer. Over the decades, we’ve discovered that our clients aren’t just customers—they’re neighbors and lifelong friends.
